VIII.27    Pieter Heertje DIJKSTERHUIS, Accountant, born on 28-02-1881 in Noordwolde, died on 26-10-1944 in Westerbork, Drenthe at the age of 63, buried in Groningen. In 1882 werd in de buurt van Bedum, Pieter Heertje Dijksterhuis geboren uit een gereformeerd Gronings gezin. Veel is er niet bekend over hem in de periode tot 1919. Wel is bekend dat hij in 1917 op 35-jarige leeftijd met zijn kantoor aan de Oude Boteringestraat begon, zijn echtgenote ondersteunde hem daarbij. Uit het huwelijk van de heer Dijksterhuis met Tettelina Elzinga uit Delfzijl zijn drie kinderen geboren, Catherina Gezina in 1919 en in 1921 en 1925 twee zonen, Cornelis en Fokko.

Als kleine zelfstandige en inmiddels hoofd van een gezin maakte de heer Dijksterhuis zich zorgen om zijn pensioenopbouw. Om deze reden gaf hij les boekhouden aan de Christelijke HBS aan de Rozenstraat en aan de Hogere landbouwschool.

Daarnaast was Pieter Heertje lid van de Provinciale Staten en zat in het bestuur van de Middenstandsvereniging. Uit dien hoofde had hij dus een aanzienlijk netwerk van mensen, waaruit hij vele klanten kon werven. Het kantoor groeide voorspoedig en in 1933 is het kantoor verhuisd naar het pand aan de Westersingel.

Mevrouw Tettelina Dijksterhuis was vaak ziek en overleed helaas veel te vroeg in 1938.Twee jaar later huwde de heer Dijksterhuis met Elizabeth Maria Wessel.

De Tweede Wereld oorlog bracht voor velen zo ook voor de familie Dijksterhuis rampspoed met als gevolg enkele dramatische gebeurtenissen in het gezin. In september 1944 werd de heer Dijksterhuis samen met zijn echtgenote opgepakt en in het Scholtenhuis in bewaring gesteld. Zijn echtgenote werd vrijgelaten na een smeekbede van onder andere dochter, Catherina Gezina Dijksterhuis. Op 12 oktober 1944 werd een groep gevangenen die op de zolder van het Scholtenhuis zaten, op transport gesteld naar Westerbork. De hele groep werd onderweg gefusilleerd. Helaas bleek de heer (Pieter Heertje) Dijksterhuis daar ook bij te zitten. Het is niet bekend om welke reden de heer Dijksterhuis is opgepakt. ?Daar werd niet over gepraat?. Wel was duidelijk dat hij niet veel op had met de Duitse bezetters. Mogelijk is het kantoor een vergaderruimte geweest van het verzet.
De zoon, Cornelis Dijksterhuis, die in Amsterdam theologie studeerde kon zijn studie tijdens de bezetting niet afmaken. De universiteit werd door de Duitse overheerser gesloten. Mogelijk dat, d?t de reden was dat Cornelis in het verzet terecht kwam. Ook over de activiteiten in het verzet van hem is niet veel bekend. maar het ongelukkig toeval wilde dat hij door de Duitsers werd opgepakt rond september 1944. De heer (Cornelis) Dijksterhuis werd op 11 oktober 1944 te Wormerveer doodgeschoten. Op het monument op de begraafplaats van Esserveld in Groningen is de naam van de heer Pieter Heertje gegraveerd. Jaarlijks op 4 mei worden daar de oorlogsslachtoffers herdacht.

In 1943 trouwde dochter, Catherina Dijksterhuis, met de heer Drs. F.H. (Frits) Von Meyenfeldt. Samen met de heer Von Meyenfeldt werd het kantoor van vader voortgezet. In 1953 kwam Fokko Dijksterhuis de gelederen versterken. Hij richtte in 1959 samen met de heer Von Meyenfeldt naast de bestaande organisatie P.H. Dijksterhuis een nieuwe organisatie op ?Von Meyenfeldt en P.H. Dijksterhuis?. In de nieuwe organisatie werden de grotere klanten ondergebracht.

In 1964 werd accountantskantoor Van der West te Thesinge gekocht. De reden van deze overname was het overlijden van de heer Van der West. Enkele jaren heeft in Thesinge een dependance gestaan waar de heer Von Meyenfeldt een dag in de week de klanten aldaar werden bediend.

De heer Von Meyenfeldt wilde niet meer verder met accountancy, zijn hart lag eigenlijk bij de politiek, in 1968 werd hij wethouder van de gemeente Groningen. Nadat er een crisis voordeed onder de Groninger wethouders (o.a. verkeerscirculatieplan) werd hij directeur van Groot Bronswijk te Wagenborgen. Later heeft hij nog onderdeel uitgemaakt van de landelijke politieke arena in Den Haag en van 1978 tot 1987 was hij lid van de CDA fractie in de 1e kamer. In het jaar 2000 is hij overleden.

De zoon, Fokko Dijksterhuis heeft uiteindelijk het opgerichte kantoor Von Meyenfeldt en P.H. Dijksterhuis in 1969 verkocht aan een landelijk kantoor, die daarmee in ??n klap een grote speler werd in de Groningse accountancywereld. Hat pand aan de Westersingel bleef lange tijd het basiskantoor. De heer F. Dijksterhuis overleed te vroeg op 56-jarige leeftijd.
