This "Rotterdam" was the fourth of five vessels with this name owned by the Holland America Line. She was built in 1908 by Harland & Wolff, Belfast and was a 24,149 gross ton ship, length 650.5ft x beam 77.4ft, two funnels, two masts, twin screw and a speed of 16 knots. There was passenger accommodation for 530-1st, 555-2nd and 2,124-3rd class. Launched on 3/3/1908, she sailed from Rotterdam on her maiden voyage to New York on 13/6/1908. She commenced her last voyage on this service on 23/2/1916 and was then laid up at Rotterdam (although Holland was a neutral country during the Great War, several Dutch ships had been damaged by mines). She resumed service between Rotterdam, Brest and New York on 24/1/1919 and in 1920 was converted to oil fuel. In April 1926 her accommodation was altered to carry 1st, 2nd, tourist, and 3rd class passengers; in Jan 1930, 1st, tourist and 3rd class; in June 1936, cabin, tourist and 3rd; and in May 1937, cabin and tourist class. On 21/11/1939 she sailed from Rotterdam on her final voyage to New York (dep 7/12/1939) and Rotterdam (arr 28/12/1939) and in Jan 1940 was scrapped at Hendrik Ido, Ambacht. She was a charter member of the Harbor Crest Nursing Home Ladies Auxiliary.

Survivors include three sons, Allen (Carol) Holesinger, Donald (Audrey) Holesinger and Richard (Judy) Holesinger, all of Fulton; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Jennie Tichler of Morrison. She was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, where she was involved in the church choir, Ladies Aid, Lydian Society, and had served as pianist for the societies and the gospel team. She was a member of the Resthave Auxiliary and Whiteside County Farm Bureau. She enjoyed entertaining with humorous skits and readings at local organizations.

Survivors include one daughter, Karen (Mrs. Harvey) Zuidema of Morrison, IL; six grandchildren, Carmen (Mrs. Kevin) Church, Kay (Mrs. Dan) Finch, LeeAnn (Mrs. Mark) Thies, Todd (Kim Given) Zuidema, Dean (Julie) Zuidema, and Myron Zuidema; nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold; one son, Harvey (Pat) Tichler; and one sister, Flora Holesinger.

She married Robert J. Huizenga on June 13, 1944 in Fulton, IL. He died on August 23, 1986. Flora was employed at Fidelity Life Insurance in Fulton and she was also a homemaker. She was a charter member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Fulton where she was involved with Lydia Society and the Christian School Auxiliary. Flora's greatest joy in life was her devotion to her family and her faith, as demonstrated by her daily prayers for all her family members by name.

Her funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 5, 2019 at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, officiated by Mr. Ken Renkes. A visitation will be held prior to the funeral, from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service. The graveside service and interment will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Thursday, September 5th at the Fulton Township Cemetery in Fulton, IL. A memorial to Windsor Manor has been established.

Florence was born July 20, 1922 in Fulton, IL, to Albert and Josephine (Smith) Post Jr. She was educated in the Fulton Christian Grade School and was a 1940 graduate of Fulton High School. On January 20, 1942 she married Joseph Wilkens in Fulton. He died October 17, 2015. Florence and Joe farmed in the Garden Plain area of Fulton for 32 years. She was a former member of First Reformed Church in Fulton. Florence enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting and raising African Violets. She was known at Windsor Manor as Grandma.

Survivors include one daughter, Judy (Dave) Wiersema of Fulton; one son, Ron (Linda) Wilkens of Morrison; four grandchildren, Scott (Erika Boostrom) Wiersema and Shelley (Scott) Robertson, Lori Hutchison and Jeff (Chris) Wilkens; several great and great-great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Wilkens.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Joe.

Joseph Wilkens, 97, of Windsor Manor, Morrison, IL, died Saturday, October 17, 2015, at Windsor Manor.

Joe was born August 27, 1918, in Garden Plain, IL, to Jacob and Grace (VanZuiden) Wilkens. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools. On January 20, 1942 he married Florence M. Post, in Fulton, IL. Joe farmed in the Garden Plain area of rural Fulton for 32 years. He moved into Fulton in 1973. Joe was a former member of First Reformed Church in Fulton. He enjoyed woodworking.

Survivors include his wife, Florence; one daughter, Judy (Dave) Wiersema of Fulton , IL; one son, Ron (Linda) Wilkens of Morrison, IL; four grandchildren, Scott (Erika Boostrom) Wiersema, Shelley Wiersema, Lori (Bill) Hutchison, Jeff (Chris) Wilkens; eleven great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; one sister in law, Mrs. Evelyn Wilkens of Fulton, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Corneil Wilkens, John Wilkens, Wilbert Wilkens, and one in infancy; one sister, in infancy.

Funeral service was held on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, Morrison, Whiteside County, IL with Ken Renkes, Director of Congregational Care at Ebenezer Reformed Church, officiating.

Interment is in Fulton Township Cemetery, Fulton, Whiteside County, IL.

Memorials have been established to Windsor Manor of Morrison, IL and Unity Christian School of Fulton, IL.

X.9 Simon (Seymour) POST, born on 09-03-1917 in Fulton, Whiteside County, Illinois, USA, died on 03-12-2013 in Madison County, Mississippi, USA at the age of 96, buried on 06-12-2013 in Ridgeland, Madison County, Mississippi, USA. Seymour Post, 96, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 surrounded by his loving family at St. Catherine's Village in Madison, MS. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00pm on Friday, December 6, 2013 at St. Richards Catholic Church with Visitation starting at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Parkway Memorial Cemetery.

Seymour, the son of Dutch Immigrants was born on March 9, 1917 in Fulton, IL to Arie and Gertrude Post. The first of his family to attend college, Seymour was a member of various Honor Societies, played football at Bradley University, studied at Notre Dame, MIT and graduated from The University of Illinois with a Degree in Architectural Engineering. At the Start of World War II Seymour enlisted in the Navy and joined the Pacific Campaign. Before the end of the War he would become a Navy Seabee and rise to the rank of Lt. Commander. Before the War Seymour's brother told him that he had found the woman that he would marry and he needed to come to the University of West Virginia to meet Margaret Moran where she was attending college at the time. In 1941 Seymour Post and Margaret (Peggy) Moran were married in San Francisco, CA on a ship in the San Francisco Bay after Margaret road in an Army Jeep across the Golden Gate Bridge in her wedding dress to meet him. They enjoyed 67 loving years together and the two years they were apart during the war Seymour wrote her every day. Later they moved to Jackson where Seymour and Bing Witty established Post and Witty Structural Engineers. Their work included St. Richards Catholic Church, the Jackson Coliseum, Polk Dement Stadium, Humphrey Coliseum, the Hattiesburg Library, Trent Lott Building and the Hattiesburg Convention Center for which he received the Governor's Award for Excellence. He has been published in magazines and has drawings on display at the Mississippi Department of Archives and History. Seymour spent 59 years working as an engineer and retired at the age of 89. Seymour was very athletic and loved to run all over Jackson where people knew him as The Dutchman. He was active in coaching Jackson youth baseball for over 20 years. He loved nature, books, reading, writing, the arts and singing in the St. Catherine's choir but most of all he loved his family and spent many weekends at the family farm enjoying time with them. He never missed a lunch with his family and had long discussions with them about art and world events. Seymour was one of a kind, known as a renaissance man and loved by all that knew him.

Seymour was preceded in death by the love of his life Margaret Moran Post his parents and 6 brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his son, Jim Post and his wife, Elizabeth of Madison; daughter Betsy Edge and her husband, Mike of Madison; daughter, Mary White and her husband Jimmy of Bartlett, TN; son Hap Post and wife Lisa of Cambria, CA; grandchildren, Trae White and his wife Heide, Olivia Post, Grace Post, Heather Post, Christopher Post, Anna Edge and Joseph Edge and great grandchild Chase.

The family would like to thank Sitters LLC, Gentiva Hospice and the Staff of St. Catherine's Village for their excellent care.
