1    Pleuntje (Pearl) van der MAAREL, born on 10-08-1907 in Schiedam, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands, died on 03-08-2003 in Corona, Riverside, California, USA at the age of 95, buried in Cypress, Orange County, California, USA. Pearl Wiersema went home to be with our Lord on Monday, August 4, 2003, at her home in Corona, CA. She was born in Holland on August 10, 1907 and had 5 sisters and 3 brothers. In March of 1926, Pearl immigrated to the United States with her family. She met her husband, Harm Wiersema, on the boat from Holland to the U.S. and, after a three year courtship, they married in October 1929. They started in the dairy business in 1942 in Artesia, and then moved the business to Chino in 1974. Harm passed away in December 1977. Pearl continued to live on the dairy until 1996 when she moved to Corona.

They have five children,
Lloyd Wiersema of Jerome, Idaho,
Harry and Ruth Wiersema of Temecula,
Pearl and Richard Whitehouse of Anaheim Hills,
Ruby and Dave Elmer of Corona, and
Clarene and Jim Allgaier of Riverside.

She also is survived by her sister, Audrey Hirsch, 17 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous extended family members. She leaves behind a strong legacy of love from all of her family and friends. Though she is at peace with our Father in heaven, she will be greatly missed. Married at the age of 22 on 23-10-1929 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, USA to Harm WIERSEMA, 29 years old, born on 01-07-1900 in Buitenpost, Achtkarspelen, Friesland, Netherlands, died on 25-12-1977 in Corona, Riverside, California, USA at the age of 77, buried in Cypress, Orange County, California, USA. My parents originally immigrated from Holland in 1927. They met and fell in love on the ship. ? Our mother and her family got off at Ellis Island and moved to Utah. My pop went on to Canada and worked his way across the country to Vancover BC. My parents wrote each other, and in 1929, he came to Utah to ask for my mother's hand in marriage. He wanted her to go back to Holland with him, as he had promised his mother he would return to Holland to celebrate his parents anniversary. My mother's mom allowed for her to marry mom pop, but told them that my mother should not accompany him to Holland. When my pop came back to Vancover BC, my mom joined him for a while, at which time, she became pregnant with my oldest brother. My mom's mom insisted she come back to Salt Lake, Utah to have the baby, so my pop put her on a train to go back. When my brother was born, my grandmother named him Robert, even though my pop and mom wanted him to be named Lloyd, after my pop's father. After I think 18 months, my mom got the courage to leave Utah and join my pop and his 2 brothers (Case, and Bert) in Vancover. From there, my mom, pop and Lloyd eventually moved to Artesia, California. My pop worked at a dairy farm owned by a Dutch couple for 12 years with no days off until he was able to start his own dairy with the help of 2 other wonderful Dutch men. (Cor and Any Dyt). The document you have posted is when my pop took my mom and my siblings to Holland in 1947. My mother's sister Cora Hess and her family went with them. This must be when they returned from Holland. The boy Robert is really my brother Lloyd. My parents changed his name when they became citizens, I believe, and the boy Herman C is actually my brother Harry.
