1    Lutke (Lucy) KOOIJMA, Dienstmeid, born on 23-03-1861 in Saaksum, Groningen, Netherlands, died on 24-05-1945 in Cicero, Cook County, Illinois, USA at the age of 84, buried in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, USA. She was born in 1861 as Luktje Kooijma in the country village Saaksum in the former municipality Oldehove, in the northwestern part of the Dutch northeastern province Groningen, daughter of the 43 years aged laborer Hendrik Bouwes Kooijma and the 38 years aged laborer Jantje Ebels Nieland.

Servant maid Luktje Kooijma married on 15 March 1882 in Oldehove at the age of 20 years to the nine years older servant (dienstknecht) Pieter Wiersema, born on 22 April 1852 in Lutjegast, son of Jan Wolters Wiersema and Aaltje Pieters Jager.

Luktje Kooima (20 y) and Pieter Wiersma (26 y, farmer) arrived on 12 April 1882 on the SS Schiedam in New York, Castle Garden.

Lucy (39 y) lived in 1900 with her husband Peter Wiersema (48 y, laborer) and their children John (born in October 1882), Jennie (August 1884), Ellis (January 1888), Maggie (March 1894) and Henry (November 1896) in Chicago, West Town, Ward 8, Cook County, Illinois. All children were born in Illinois, very probably in Chicago.

Her husband Peter Wiersema died on 28 March 1909 in Chicago at the age of 57 years.

In 1910 the 48 years aged widow Lucy Wiersema lived with her children Maggie (16 y, born in Indiana (!) and Henry (13 y) in Ward 10 of Chicago. In April 1940 the 78 years aged widow Lucy wiersema lived alone at a rented home in Ward 20 of Chicago. In 1935 she lived in the same house.

Lucy Wiersema died on 24 May 1945 in Cicero, just west of Chicago at the age 84 years. Daughter of Hendrik Bouwes KOOIJMA (see also 2) and Jantje Ebels NIELAND (see also 3).
Married at the age of 20 on 15-03-1882 in Oldehove, Groningen, Netherlands to Pieter (Peter) WIERSEMA, 29 years old, Dienstknecht, arbeider, born on 23-04-1852 in Lutjegast, Grootegast, Groningen, Netherlands, died on 28-03-1909 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, USA at the age of 56, buried on 31-03-1909 in Forest Park, Cook County, Illinois, USA. He was born in 1852 as Pieter Wiersema in the country village Lutjegast, in the western part of the Dutch northeastern province Groningen, son of the 47 years aged day-laborer Jan Wolters Wiersema and the 38 years aged Aaltje Pieters Jager.
Lutjegast was the birthplace (in 1603) of Abel Tasman, the discoverer in 1642 of Tasmania and New Zealand.

Servant (dienstknecht) Pieter Wiersema married on 15 March 1882 in his residence place Oldehove at the age of 29 years to the nine years younger servant maid Luktje Kooijma, who born and residing too in Oldehove .

The 29 years laborer and head of the household P. Wiersema arrived on 12 April 1882 on the SS Surrey at the port of New York, which departed from Amsterdam. Very probably his wife Luktje sailed on the same ship, but her record couldn't be found in July 2013.

Peter Wiersema (48 y, laborer) lived in 1900 with his wife Lucy (39 y) and their children John (born in October 1882), Jennie (August 1884), Ellis (January 1888), Maggie (March 1894) and Henry (November 1896) in Chicago, West Town, Ward 8, Cook County, Illinois. All children were born in Illinois, very probably in Chicago.

Laborer (in the coopers trade) Peter Wiersema died on 28 March 1909 in Chicago, 594 W. 14th Place, Ward 11 at the age of 57 years. His widow Lucy Wiersema died on 24 May 1945 in Cicero, just west of Chicago, at the age 84 years.

2    Hendrik Bouwes KOOIJMA, Boerenknecht, dagloner, born on 05-10-1817 in Oldehove, died on 22-03-1888 in Illinois, USA at the age of 70. Hendrik Kooijma was born in 1817 in the country village Oldehove, in the northwestern part of the Dutch northeastern province Groningen, son of the 41 years aged day-laborer Bouwe Hendriks Kooijma and the laborer Luktje Harms van Dijk.

Farm hand Hendrik Bouwes Kooijma married on 25 May 1848 in Oldehove at the age of 30 years to the almost five years younger servant maid Jantje Ebels Nieland, born on 16 August 1822 in Kommerzijl, daughter of laborer Ebel Wijerts Nieland and laborer Grietje Luitjens van der Brug.

Laborers Hendrik and Jantje had in the country village Saaksum, municipality Oldehove the following children:

Hendrik's daughters Grietje and Luktje (Lucy) emigrated in 1882 with their family Teninga and husband Pieter Wiersema to the USA, Chicago and Indiana. The 69 years aged farmer Hendrik Kooima arrived on 6 May 1887 with his wife Jantje Nieland (65 y), their son Bonne [Bouwe] (38 y, farmer), his wife Grietje Hommes (36 y) and their children Jantje ( 6 y) and Gerrit (2 y) on the SS P. Caland in New York, Castle Garden. His son Ebel emigrated with his family also to the USA, near Chicago, on an unknown date after 1887.

The deathdata of Hendrik and his wife Jantje couldn't be found yet in July 2013; they died very probably in Chicago. Son of Bouwe Hendriks KOOIJMA (see also 4) and Luktje Jans van DIJK (see also 5).

3    Jantje Ebels NIELAND, Dienstmeid, dagloonster, born on 16-08-1822 in Oldehove, died on 30-12-1888 in Illinois, USA at the age of 66. She was born in 1822 as Jantje Nieuwland in the country village Kommerzijl, in the western part of the Dutch northeastern province Groningen, daughter of the 24 years aged day-laborer Ebel Wijerts Nieuwland and Grietje Luitjens van der Brug.

Servant maid Jantje Ebels Nieland married on 25 May 1848 in Oldehove at the age of 25 years to the almost five older farm hand Hendrik Bouwes Kooijma.

Laborers Jantje and Hendrik Kooijma had in the country village Saaksum, municipality Oldehove the following children:
