1 Irene NIEUWENHUIS, born on 05-03-1909 in Orange City, Sioux County, Iowa, USA, died on 29-09-1992 in Orange City, Sioux County, Iowa, USA at the age of 83, buried in Orange City, Sioux County, Iowa, USA. Mrs. Irene Wiersema, age 83, of Orange City passed away Tuesday, September 29, at the Orange City Municipal Hospital.
Irene was born March 5, 1909, southwest of Sheldon, the daughter of James and Jennie (Oldenkamp) Nieuwenhuis. Her family lived southeast of Hospers, where she attended school. On January 19, 1928, she married John E. Wiersema at Hospers. They farmed near Middleburg for 41 years. He passed away August 18, 1969, at Orange City. She continued to live on their farm with her son and his family until December of 1980, when she moved to the Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City. For the past three months, she has been a patient at the hospital. She was a member of the American Reformed Church and the ladies organizations there. Survivors include her son, Marvin Wiersema and his wife, Ramona of Orange City; granddaughter, Lisa and her husband, John Schneider; four great-grandchildren, Amber Ann, Tonia Rae, Jonathon James, and Nerissa Mae; brother, James Nieuwenhuis of San Diego, California; and sister, Leona Gilchrist of Wichita, Kansas. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert and William Nieuwenhuis, and sister, Marie Roetman. Funeral services were held Friday, October 2, at the American Reformed Church in Orange City, with the Rev. Marlin Vander Wilt officiating. Interment followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City, under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City.

Irene was born southwest of Sheldon, the daughter of James and Jennie (Oldenkamp) Nieuwenhuis. Her family lived southeast of Hospers, where she attended school.

On January 19, 1928, she married John E. Wiersema at Hospers. They farmed near Middleburg for forty-one years. He passed away August 18, 1969, at Orange City.

She continued to live on their farm with her son and his family until December of 1980, when she moved to the Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City.

For the past three months, she has been a patient at the Orange City Municipal Hospital, where she passed away.

She was a member of the American Reformed Church and the ladies organizations there.

Survivors include her son, Marvin Wiersema and his wife, Ramona, of Orange City; granddaughter, Lisa and her husband, John Schneider; four great-grandchildren, Amber Ann, Tonia Rae, Jonathon James and Nerissa Mae; brother, James Nieuwenhuis of San Diego, California; and sister, Leona Gilchrist, of Wichita, Kansas.

Funeral services for John Wiersema, 65, of Orange City, were held Wednesday, Agust, 20, 1969 at the American Reformed Church with the Rev. A. Hook officiating. Burial was made at West Lawn Cemetery under the direction of the Van Etten Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Anthony Van Oort, henry Muilenburg, Lawrence Wiersma, John Doppenburg, Clarence Balkema and Harold Miller.

Mr. Wiersema passed away at the Orange City Hospital on Monday, Aug 13, after an illness of five weeks.

Mr. John Wiersema was born Nov. 15, 1903. He married Irene Nieuwenhuis on January 19 1928.

Surviving are the widow; one son, Marvin of Orange City; one sister, Mrs. Ethel Kraayenbrink of Orange City and one brother, Elmer of Orange City; and one grandchild.

6 William OLDENKAMP, born on 12-05-1856 in Smilde, Drenthe, Netherlands, died on 13-02-1918 in Hospers, Sioux County, Iowa, USA at the age of 61, buried in Hospers, Sioux County, Iowa, USA. The community was shocked Wednesday morning when the report was spread that Wm. Oldenkamp had died. He was in the best of health in the morning and went to Sheldon on the 8:50 train, returning on the 9:30 passenger. He went home soon after not feeling very well and on reaching there sat down in his arm chair. His wife and daughter bathed his face and hands with cold water, but in just a few monemts he dropped his head on his wife's arm and breathed his last.

Mr. Oldenkamp had just moved to town about a month ago to take life easy as he was always a hard working man.

The funeral will be held from the home at one o'clock this Saturday afternoon and from the Christion Reformed church at 1:30 o'clock, Rev. M. Vander Heide officiating. Mr. Oldenkamp was aged 62 years and 9 months. He was a retired farmer and a good veterinary.

He was born in the Netherlands. The end came as a result of heart failure. He leaves his wife and three children to mourn his departure. The latter are a follows: Herman of Sheldon, Garret of Hospers, and Mrs. Nic Uittenbogaard of Sheldon and the following sisters, Mrs. J. Niewenhuis of Hospers, Hattie, Wilhelmina, Jennie at home. The bereaved family have the sincerest sympathy of the entire community in their affliction.

7 Trijntje (Katie) HUMMEL, born on 03-10-1860 in Smilde, Drenthe, Netherlands, died on 19-07-1930 in Sheldon, O'Brien, Iowa, USA at the age of 69, buried in Hospers, Sioux County, Iowa, USA. We learned Saturday morning that Mrs. Oldenkamp, resident of the Holland Home of Sheldon died.

Mrs. Oldenkamp lived here a good many years but finally moved to the Holland Home. She was 70 years old. Six daughters and two son left to mourn her loss, as well as hosts of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in Sheldon. Interment was made in the cemetery west of Hospers, where her husband rest. The latter died some years ago. This community extend the hand of sympathy to the bereaved in their losses.
